The Throwing Knife is a ranged weapon introduced in Jagged Alliance 2.
Official description[]
"This finely balanced steel throwing knife brings new meaning to the expression killing them softly. or in this case silently."
Locations[]
- Commonly found items. One, which is bloodstained, can be found in Omerta at the beginning of the game, in a rockpile in the middle of the township.
- Dimitri Guzzo carries two such knives in his inventory.
- Bobby Ray's
Bloody Throwing Knife[]
After hitting a live target, the knife becomes bloody. Although its effectiveness is not decreased in any way, it cannot be combined with clean knives in an inventory slot. Throwing the blade into the ground will clean it. In v1.13, a rag has to be used instead.
Notes[]
- Best used by mercs with the Throwing skill and when attacking enemies from behind. One well-thrown knife at the head guarantees opponent's death. Throwing those knives from the front isn't that effective.
- Two knives of this type fit small inventory slot, while the large inventory slot can house up to four throwing knives.
- In Jagged Alliance 2, this weapon allows to rapidly boost Marksmanship skills using the following trick: the merc to be trained is given the knife and put outside a building near to a window, and a second merc without weapons in hands in placed inside the building on the opposite site of the same building. The trainee hurls the knife at their team mate, then takes the knife back and the process is repeated until the skill is developed around 90. Some mercs can't be trained this way - Dimitri Guzzo , Breeham "Shank" Druz, and Dr. Vincent Beaumont will refuse to hurl knives at team maters. Biff Apscott will refuse throwing a knife at Florence "Flo" Gabriel and vice versa. Steve "Grizzly" Bornell won't hurl a knife at Kyle "Shadow" Simmons.
- An alternative method to develop Marksmanship and Dexterity involves hurling knives at crows. Works the same as the knife-window method described above, just all the mercs can be trained this way. Crows can be found in towns after battles, feasting on corpses.
- Bloody throwing knives can be sold to Jake Cameron. He will buy them for better price than Tony in San Mona.
Jagged Alliance 2 v1.13[]
Like most weapons, v1.13 introduces variants of the throwing knife.
- Heavy Throwing Knife - slower, but more damaging variant of the throwing knife
- Shuriken - faster, more reliable and more expensive version of the throwing knife
