The Machette is a large-size melee weapon in the Jagged Alliance series, first appearing in Jagged Alliance: Deadly Games.
A machete is slower than a knife, costing more AP to swing, but deals more damage per hit. In Jagged Alliance 2, they are also much larger, and take up more space in a merc's pack - one large inventory slot.
Official description[]
"A very large knife with an extremely sharp edge." - Jagged Alliance: Deadly Games
"Slice 'em, dice 'em, cook 'em 'n' clean 'em. Whether it be man, plant, or beast, this all purpose machete chops can fillet anything." - Jagged Alliance 2
Locations[]
- A common jungle tool, this can be found almost anywhere. Enemy partols often have at least one weapon like this.
- Acquired from Carmen Dancio, when his quest is accepted.
- Bobby Ray's - mint condition ones are almost always available. Worn out appear depending on Difficulty setting.
- Keith Hemps sometimes has one in stock.
- Tony sometimes has one or two for sale, depending on Difficulty setting.
- Sam Rozen has at least one in stock.
Use[]
- The machete's basic use is to severe heads of the terrorists involved in Carmen Dancio's quest. To do so, the machette has to be seleted as a weapon, then used on a corpse. The merc will carry out the order and terrorist's head will appear in the inventory.
- In the Jagged Alliance 2 v. 1.12, the machete can be used as a close-quarter weapon. At increased Action Points cost than Combat Knife, it deals more damage.
- When used for dispatching enemies silently, the machete does not always kill the opponent with a single thrust at the neck. The aforesaid Combat Knife seems to work better for this task.
Jagged Alliance 2 v1.13[]
Like many things, v1.13 introduced many variants of large bladed melee weapons.
- Ka-Bar Cutlass - a pocket-size machete that can fit into a knife slot. Faster and less lethal.
- Sabre and Katana - flashier, faster and more damaging variants of the machete. The tradeoff with these weapons is that they can be very difficult to repair once damaged.
