The MG 42 (German: Maschinengewehr 42, lit. "machinegun 42") is a light machine gun officially introduced in Jagged Alliance Online. It reappears in Jagged Alliance 3.

- All the variants from both games seem to be fed with 7.62mm ammunition instead of 7,92mm rounds the actual World War II machineguns were fed with.
- Both Common variants differ from one another only cosmetically, having the exact same parameters. The same applies to the Rare variants
