Jagged Alliance Wiki

The Alcohol is a consumable item in the the Jagged Alliance series. The alcoholic beverages seen in the series have both positive and negative effects, depending on the game.

Types[]

Jagged Alliance[]

  • Case of Beer
"A case...of beer."
Found exclusively and rarely in crates, beer may replenish your stamina when used on the head of a merc's inventory silhouette, similar to a canteen.

Alcohol in Jagged Alliance 2 can be used to increase a mercenaries morale or to obtain information from some NPCs. Note that the Morale will severely drop after a short while and the mercs dexterity / marksmanship will suffer for an extended period of time. Alcohol also adds bonus to leadership checks if not overdosed.

Jagged Alliance: Rage![]

"A bottle of rotgut. Can also be used as disinfectant."

Alcohol in Jagged Alliance: Rage! can be used for two purposes, drinking or cleaning bandages.

Drinking Alcohol restores hydration (but not as much as water), has a hidden effect where it boosts the drinker's immune system and can inflict the "Drunk" status effect if done during a map:

"Inhibited combat performance but an increased resistance to pain. Don't drink too much or you might spill your guts."

Being drunk will cause decreased accuracy but give a pain resistance and adrenaline bonus however attempting to drink alcohol again while drunk will cause the mercenary to vomit and lose adrenaline.

Alternatively when resting the player can use alcohol to clean bandages, this uses up a single Alcohol bottle and cleans all dirty bandages in that merc's inventory.

Locations[]

Jagged Alliance 2[]

  • Mint condition bottles mainly can be bought in bars.
  • Various crates, chests, or shelves at homes may also contain them.
  • Occasionally, a soldier will have a bottle of beer or stronger alcohol on him.
  • Jake Cameron sometimes has a bottle or two for sale, in varied conditions.
  • Depending on a game version, IMP mercs with high leadership often come with a bottle of beer as well. Never encountered an NPC dropping this.

Jagged Alliance: Rage![]

Can be found in containers and rarely on enemies, relatively common in Phase 1/2 but gets harder to find alongside fresh water in Phase 3 of the Island.

Notes[]

  • Father Walker will ask you for a bottle of "Sacramential Wine" (any type of alcohol will do). If you give him one, he'll promptly get drunk right in front of you, and you won't be able to talk to him normally for several hours after.
  • Frank in San Mona will tell you about the prize fights if you buy something from him (he only sells alcohol)
  • (v1.13 only) The Bottle of Alcohol item can be combined with a rag cut from a tshirt to make a molotov cocktail.
